Here are a few nice ones of the many applications built and available at the android market for journalists who are Android tablet or phone users. These applications are a must for these people and are guaranteed to come in handy in their ever moving fast profession. The list below is just a beginning and many other applications are also available but some of the very important ones are as follows
First would be Evernote. It can add text, photos and audio directly to the android tablet and can be accessed from other mobile devices, the web or desktop. Notes can be saved in specified notebooks with great organization and as many tags as you like. WordPress is there which allows for remote reporting and posting of wordpress blog directly to the web. Twitter, Facebook, and a big beautiful clock that would display time, date and weather are a must for obvious reasons. Last pass is an application which connects your desktop, your mobile and your tablet altogether. This way none of the files or data saved in one computer will be stuck there only. It costs a premium $12 per annum. Dropbox creates folders on the home screen of your android tablet. Adding files to those folders will make them accessible through phone also. Wunderlist is a simple syncing application for making to-do lists. It can use for making lists for any practice. Also it has a free website that syncs with the application making it accessible from anywhere. Google voice is an application best for people on the go. Create one phone number on it and have it ring your desk phone and mobile. You can get voicemails emailed to you.
Bump is one cool application to trade information and content by literally bumping phones with another person. Email is the other option but this one is easier and quicker. Installing better and quicker web browsers is also necessary such as firefox, dolphin mini etc. CNN is a must providing up to the minute news and has push notifications for breaking news. Quickoffice is a must to get Excel, Word and PowerPoint into your tablet. Qik or Ustream are the two options for broadcasting live from your phone or tablet. It is great for breaking news situations. ReaditLater is also an application for bookmarking content that you would like to access in your free time. Skype is the best option for making calls anywhere in the world via the web connection. Yelp is one fun application which helps you find good food open in the oddest time of night and day. The worth of this application can be valued from people coming out from a late night council meeting starving.
